LEXINGTON, Va. – The Guilford women's lacrosse team opened the 2021 slate with a game against Washington & Lee, which earned a decisive 28-1 win in Lexington, Va., on Saturday, April 3rd.

The Generals (8-0, 5-0 ODAC), who scored 20 goals in the first half, had eight players with multi-goal performances. Ginny Taylor led the way with four goals, while teammate Hanna Bishop notched three for Washington & Lee.

Washington & Lee (8-0, 5-0 ODAC) finished the contest with 49 shots, 44 shots on goal to go along with 14 assists. The Generals had a 28 ground balls in the game.

Guilford ended the game with two shots, both of which were on goal, to go along with 11 ground balls. The Quakers' defense finished with five caused turnovers. The two shots for Guilford came from Audrey Helfenbein and Alli Earwood.

Kersten Daneau (0-1) faced 26 shots on the day and tallied six saves. Teammate Zenna Carson, who played the second half, faced 18 shots and made 10 shots in net.

The Generals assumed a 1-0 lead at the 29:44 mark, following a goal by Allie Schwab, but Guilford answered with a goal of its own just over a minute later. Helfenbein drove home a free position shot for the lone Quaker goal at 27:58.

Washington & Lee netted the next 27 straight goals in the contest, taking a 20-1 lead into the intermission.
