EMORY, Va. -- The Guilford College men's basketball team fell short at Emory on Saturday afternoon, 66-55. 

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• The contest kicked off with Emory making a three-pointer and a free throw to go up 4-0.

• It was a layup by Liam Ward that slowed the hosts' momentum. 

• Despite leading by 11 at one point, GC trailed Emory 31-29 after the first half. 

• Guilford took the lead with 17:53 remaining in the contest off a Ward three-pointer, 35-34.

• Guilford and Emory continued to trade leads throughout most of the remainder of the battle. 

• GC's last lead was at 5:42 as a Julius Burch layup, helped along by Ward made it 53-50.

• After taking the lead at 5:19, the hosts were all gas, coming away with a 66-55 victory. 

LEADING THE QUAKES

• Leading his team in scoring was Liam Ward who put up 18 points, recorded five steals, four rebounds and three assists. 

• With his second double-double of the season, Julius Burch grabbed a team-best 13 rebounds, while coming second in the points tally with 13. Burch also recorded two blocks and one assist. 

• Tyler Dearman and Caleb Farrish tallied five rebounds. 

• Jaylen Gore led his team with five assists.

COMPARING NUMBERS

• Guilford out-rebounded its opponent 45-35. 

• The Quakers shot 81.8% from the line (9-for-11), while the Eagles shot 50% (5-for-10).

Guilford is set to travel to Randolph College on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. meeting.
