LYNCHBURG, Va. – Lynchburg College downed visiting Guilford College, 7-2, in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match Sunday. The Hornets improved to 7-7 overall, 4-3 in the league. The Quakers dropped to 1-11, 0-8 in the conference.
Lynchburg captured two of three doubles points with wins in the second and third flights. Emily Simpson and Reagan Coon claimed an 8-3 win over the Quakers' Chandler MacDonald and Leigh Fishman at second doubles. Sarah Wyly and Kelsey Dowling's 8-2 win over Guilford's Makayla McLaurin and Brooklyn Hopkins gave the Hornets a 2-0 edge before Guilford's Katie Claggett and Nora Prokosch pulled out a 9-7 win over Lynchburg's Christina Harris and Lilli Altenberg.
Guilford's Prokosch downed Simpson at second singles, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, but Lynchburg claimed the remaining five singles contests. Harris downed Claggett at first singles and Dowling topped MacDonald in the fifth flight by matching scores of 6-0, 6-0.
