Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee University had 11 different goal scorers in Saturday's 19-6 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's lacrosse victory over visiting Guilford College Saturday. Lauren Procaccino and Brianna Hayes both scored three goals as the 19th-ranked Generals (9-5) improved to 7-0 in league play.
The hosts wasted little time as Jess Castelo scored twice and Melissa Coggins followed with a pair of goals in Washington and Lee's 5-0 run in the game's first four minutes. Marina Bailey and Holly Kozak sandwiched Guilford's first two goals around Procaccino's first score of the day before the Generals rattled off eight of the half's final nine tallies and took a 14-3 halftime lead.
Hayes' second goal of the day, one of Washington and Lee's four free-position scores, started the second-half scoring. The Quakers' Amanda Dionne and Carter MacLeod answered with consecutive tallies, which made the count 15-5. Guilford drew no closer as the Generals' scored four straight before the Quakers' Kozak closed the scoring with 42 seconds remaining.
Proccacino added an assist for a game-high four points. Hollis Tardy and Haley Tucker joined Castelo and Coggins with two goals apiece. Rebecca Wellford picked up five draw controls and Maggie Waxter added four as the Generals won 17 of the 25 draws. Ellie Aburn, one of three Washington and Lee goalies, played the first half in goal and made five saves.
Kozak and Bailey both scored twice for Guilford (7-8, 5-4 ODAC). Bailey added an assist and had three draw controls. Sammi Milbourn made two saves in the first half before yielding to Sarah Sedaghat, who stopped five second-half shots.
Coach Sarah Lamphier's Quakers close the regular season Wednesday (4/27) at Lynchburg College.
