Quakers Trounce Hollins in Women's Lacrosse Regular-Season Home Finale

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior Marina Bailey scored a career-high seven goals in Guilford College's 23-5 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's lacrosse victory over visiting Hollins University Wednesday. Teammate Demming Carlow matched her personal best with nine points (5 goals, 4 assist) and six draw controls in the Quakers' second-highest scoring output in school history.

Bailey scored all of her goals in the first half, which helped Guilford (7-7, 5-2 ODAC) open an 18-4 intermission advantage. Carlow added three goals and all four assists in the opening 30 minutes. The Quakers outshot Hollins (0-12, 0-7 ODAC), 29-7, in the first half and 41-8 for the game.

Amanda Dionne contributed five points with four goals and an assist. Mimi Shimura, typically a defender, netted the first two goals of her college career in the second half. Taylor Campellone chipped in three points with a goal and two assists. Bailey, Shimura and Holly Kozak each picked up four ground balls and Carter MacLeod caused a game-best three turnovers. Sarah Sedaghat went the distance in goal for her first victory of the season. She made two saves.

Valerie Helmbrecht's three goals paced Hollins, which committed 20 turnovers. Rikki Martinez and Emalee Jimenez also tallied for the visitors. Emily Lowther made seven saves and picked up three ground balls in goal.

Coach Sarah Lamphier's Quakers visit league-leading Washington and Lee University Saturday (4/23) at 1:00 p.m.
