GREENSBORO, N.C. – Visiting Agnes Scott College claimed a 7-2 women's tennis victory at Guilford College Sunday. The Scotties improved to 10-5 with the nonleague win. Guilford ends its regular season with a 6-8 mark.
Agnes Scott won each of the three doubles contests, including a narrow win at third doubles by Jumana Master and Magdalena Wimmler. The pair needed a tiebreaker to edge Guilford's Nora Prokosch and Chandler MacDonald, 9-8 (7-2).
Maddie Hoffman topped Guilford's Katie Claggett at first singles, 6-1, 6-3, and teamed with Taylor Lee for an 8-1 win over Claggett and Riley Caruana at first doubles. Lee shut out Prokosch at second singles, 6-0, 6-0. Nikki Langford and Camille Wilson had straight-set wins at fourth and fifth singles, respectively, and teamed for an 8-5 win over the Quakers' Fernanda Gonzalez and Leigh Fishman at second doubles.
Caruana defeated Wimmler, 6-1, 6-1, at third singles. Senior Luci Gordon pulled out a 6-1, 6-7 (4-7), 1-0 (10-4) victory over Master at sixth singles in her final regular-season home contest.
Coach Dave McCain's Quakers awaits word of a possible selection to the eight-team Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament, which begins on campus sites April 30.
