Randolph-Macon Stays Unbeaten in ODAC Play With 17-10 Win Over Guilford

ASHLAND, Va. – Alicia Hsieh scored a game-high five goals and Katie Russo added four as Randolph-Macon College remained unbeaten in Old Dominion Athletic Conference lacrosse play with a 17-10 victory over visiting Guilford College Saturday.

Hsieh scored four times in the first half as the Yellow Jackets (8-4, 5-0 ODAC) raced to a 12-2 halftime lead. Russo tallied twice and Alex Lightfoot distributed three of her game-high five assists in the opening period. Randolph-Macon doubled the Quakers (6-7, 4-2 ODAC) in shots in the first half, 26-13.

Russo's goal 28 seconds after halftime opened the second-half scoring, but the Quakers answered with three straight scores, two by senior Marina Bailey. Susie Snee and Hsieh scored 64 seconds apart, which restored the hosts 10-goal margin with 21:45 left to play.  The Quakers scored the game's final four goals, which provided the final margin.

Snee (2 goals, 1 assist) Hannah Jones (2 goals) and Alyssa Chavez (2 goals) joined Hsieh and Russo as multiple-goal scorers. Randolph-Macon finished with a 36-26 edge in shots and a 19-10 draw controls advantage, including 11-4 in the first half. Hsieh picked up a game-high seven draws and Jessie Cornbrooks added four. Snee had a game-best four ground balls and Hsieh caused two turnovers. Allie Walker played all 60 minutes in goal for the Yellow Jackets and made nine saves.

Bailey and Demming Carlow both scored three times, which led Guilford. Amanda Dionne added two goals and an assist. Carter MacLeod shared game-high honors with seven draw controls and Sammi Milbourn made 10 saves in goal.

Coach Sarah Lamphier's Quakers close their home schedule Wednesday (4/20) against league-rival Hollins University at 6:00 p.m. in the Armfield Athletic Center.
