Bridgewater Stops Guilford, 7-2

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Host Bridgewater College pulled out a 7-2 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's tennis win over visiting Guilford College Friday.

The Eagles (3-10, 2-5 ODAC) captured all three doubles matches and four of six singles-contests. The second-doubles and sixth-singles contests were especially close and swung momentum Bridgewater's way. Bridgewater's tandem of Shannon Quinn and Ashley Price pulled out a 9-8 (8-6) second-doubles victory over Guilford's Fernanda Gonzalez and Leigh Fishman. The Eagles' Haley Lloyd claimed a 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 triumph over the Quakers' Luci Gordon at sixth singles.

Price won her second-singles match over Guilford's Nora Prokosch, 6-3, 6-2, and was one of Bridgewater's four two-time winners. Lloyd and Holly Knupp won their third-doubles match with Guilford's Prokosch and Chandler MacDonald, 8-2. Knupp topped Riley Caruana at third singles, 6-1, 6-0. Whitney Cash claimed an 8-3 fifth-singles win over Fishman and teamed with Stephanie Barton for an 8-4 first doubles victory over Caruana and Katie Claggett.

Claggett posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over Barton at first singles. Gonzalez accounted for the Quakers' second point with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Quinn at fourth singles.

Coach Dave McCain's Quakers host Agnes Scott College Sunday (4/17) at noon in Guilford's final regular-season match of the year.
