Roanoke Deals Guilford First ODAC Women's Lacrosse Loss

SALEM, Va. – Claire Feeney tallied five goals and two assists in Roanoke College's 19-9 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse win over visiting Guilford College Wednesday. The Maroons (6-7, 4-2 ODAC) had eight different goal scorers in their third win in four games.

The Quakers (6-6, 4-1 ODAC) took a short-lived 2-1 lead on a Demming Carlow score just over eight minutes into the game. Roanoke's Katie Clements answered 17 seconds later with her first of two goals on the day, which triggered a 9-0 Maroons' run. Eight different students scored in the sport, which opened a 10-2 Roanoke lead. Guilford's Carlow and Amanda Dionne both scored in the final 23 seconds of the first half, which made it a 10-4 game at intermission.

Marina Bailey, the Quakers' leading scorer, did not score in the first half, but tallied all five Quakers' goals in the second half. Her second goal made it a 12-6 game with 25:48 left, but Guilford never drew closer as the Maroons answered with three goals in a row.

Mckenna Polak scored four times for Roanoke and Jenn Schwecheimer added three scores. Clements finished with two goals, two assists, five draw controls and four caused turnovers. Allison Beames contributed two goals, four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Roanoke held a 41-21 edge in shots and collected 21 of the game's 30 draw controls. Victoria Blair (7 saves) and Emma Blair (2 saves) both played a half in goal.

Bailey's five goals paced the Quakers' offense. Dionne scored two goals and an assist. Carlow had two scores, three draw controls and two caused turnovers. Sammi Milbourn made a career-high 17 saves in goal and collected a team-high three ground balls.
