GREENSBORO, N.C. – Emily Henderson and Briell Smith both won twice in Roanoke College's 7-2 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) tennis win at Guilford College Saturday.
Henderson and Smith were two of the Maroons' four double winners, joining Catherine Lee and Kristen McDowell. Henderson pulled out a 6-4, 6-3 first-singles win over the Quakers' Katie Claggett and teamed with Smith for a first-doubles triumph over Claggett and Riley Caruana. Smith claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win over Nora Prokosch at second singles.
Lee and McDowell joined forces for an 8-2 second-doubles victory over Fernanda Gonzalez and Leigh Fishman. Lee topped Caruana at third singles, 6-2, 6-4. McDowell did not lose a set in her 6-0, 6-0 fifth-singles triumph over Fishman.
Guilford scored on Prokosch and Chandler MacDonald's 8-4 third-doubles win over Kelly MacCluen and Arabella Goralski. The Quakers' Gonzalez downed Roanoke's Kaitlyn Diskerud, 2-6, 6-4, 10-5, at fourth singles.
Coach Dave McCain's Quakers host Emory & Henry College next Saturday (4/2) in an ODAC contest.
