GREENSBORO, N.C.---Guilford College fell to Randolph-Macon College in a Saturday afternoon Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's tennis match, 9-0, at the McMichael Centennial Class Courts.
Haley Andrews and Allison Hewitt battled through the top doubles match, falling to the top Randolph-Macon duo of Angelina Sportelli and Kelsie Grice, 8-3. Andrews and Hewitt led the Quakers (2-1, 0-1 ODAC) with game victories in doubles as the Yellow Jackets (1-0, 1-0 ODAC) combined to yield just one game to the Quakers throughout the rest of the doubles section of the match.
Andrews would face Sportelli a second time, this time in first singles, falling to Sportelli, 6-4 and 6-3, to lead the Quakers with game wins in singles competition. Fernanda Gonzalez claimed the second-highest total of game victories in singles competition, falling to Melissa Tomlin in the third singles match, 6-1 and 6-2.
The Quakers return to the court Friday, traveling to Hollins University Friday for a 3 p.m. ODAC match.
