SALEM, Va. – Guilford College's women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) decision at Roanoke College Sunday.
The Maroons improved to 9-4 (4-0 ODAC), while Guilford fell to 2-4 (0-4 ODAC).
Roanoke claimed all three doubles points, including two 8-0 decisions at the second and third flights. The Quakers' top tandem of Haley Andrews and Allison Hewitt fell to Roanoke's Emily Henderson and Reed Kegel, 8-2.
Andrews and Hewitt both took a set off their opponents at first and second singles, respectively. Andrews fell to Kegel, 2-6, 6-1, 10-7. Hewitt dropped a 2-6, 6-3, 10-8 contest to Roanoke's Emma Barker. The remaining four singles contests were decided in straight sets, including the sixth singles match where Chandler MacDonald made her Guilford debut with a 6-2, 6-0 setback to the Maroons' Elli Fields.
Coach Dave McCain's Quakers visit Lynchburg College Saturday (3/28) at 2:00 p.m. in a match rescheduled from March 1.
