Shenandoah Sweeps Singles In 7-2 ODAC Women's Tennis Win Over Guilford

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Visiting Shenandoah University pulled out a 7-2 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's tennis win over Guilford College Saturday. The contest was played in the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center.

Guilford jumped out to a 2-1 lead after singles play, thanks to a pair of tight wins in the first two flights. Haley Andrews and Allison Hewitt pulled off an 8-6 first-doubles win over the Hornets' Shannon Allin and Molly Barb. Fernanda Gonzalez and Nora Prokosch claimed an 8-5 triumph over Amber Lake and Jannella Williams at second doubles. Amy Rapp and Caitlin Tilton won at third doubles over Guilford's Mara Stern and Luci Gordon, 8-1.

Shenandoah swept all six singles contests in straight sets. The closest match was a first singles where Barb squeaked past Guilford's Andrews, 6-4, 6-4. Tilton and Lake won at fifth and sixth singles, respectively, which made them two-time winners on the day.

Coach Dave McCain's Quakers (2-2, 0-2 ODAC) host Bridgewater College Sunday at 12 noon.

Shenandoah improved to 5-1 overall (2-1 ODAC).
