Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. – Betsy Hebert scored four goals and an assist in Randolph-Macon College's 17-7 lacrosse win at Guilford College in Saturday's Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opener for both teams.
Hebert scored three times in the first half, which helped the Yellow Jackets (3-2, 1-0 ODAC) take a 10-5 lead. Her first two goals capped a 4-0 Randolph-Macon run to start the game. Guilford's Marina Bailey and Eleanora Keene scored consecutive tallies midway through the half to get the Quakers (2-3, 0-1 ODAC) on the scoreboard, but Randolph-Macon answered with four straight tallies, two by Sarah Jamieson, which made it an 8-2 game. The visitors controlled the draw circle early in the game, winning 11 of 16 first-half draw controls.
Randolph-Macon's Alicia Hsieh scored two of her three goals in the second half, which saw the Yellow Jackets score six of the period's first seven goals. Guilford's comeback efforts were hampered by an injury to Keene, a three-time All-ODAC midfielder who left the game with an injury early in the second half.
Hsieh, who finished with three goals and two assists, joined Hebert with a game-high five points. Jamieson and Allie Franklin both scored twice for Randolph-Macon. Janelle Whitman added a goal, two assists and five draw controls. Allie Walker played the first half in goal and made nine of the team's 11 saves before yielding to Jamie Langbein in the second half. Randolph-Macon converted on six-of-eight free-position attempts.
Keene's three goals, all of which came in the first half, paced Guilford. She also caused a game-high three turnovers and picked up two draws and two ground balls. Bailey added two goals. Sarah Sedaghat played the first 42 minutes in goal and made three saves. Guilford sophomore Sammi Milbourn made her 2015 debut in goal after a preseason injury. She made four saves in nearly 18 minutes of second-half action.
