Hyatt Leads Quakers to ODAC Men's Basketball Win Over Emory & Henry

Box Score

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomore Trever Hyatt hit for a season-high 23 points in Guilford College's 67-48 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball win over visiting Emory & Henry College Saturday.

Hyatt scored 14 second-half points, including 11 in a 22-8 run midway through the half. After the Wasps (1-10, 0-2 ODAC) trimmed a 19-point second-half deficit down to eight, Guilford responded behind Hyatt, who scored on three-pointers, runners the lane and from the free-throw line. He scored seven straight points at one point, and capped the run with a driving layup in the lane that opened a 62-40 Quakers' edge with 3:02 left in regulation.

Senior Matt McCarthy scored 13 points and added six rebounds, six assists and five steals for the Quakers (8-3, 1-1 ODAC). Classmate Jonny Rice tallied seven points and Zach Houston had a club-high eight rebounds. Guilford enjoyed a 47-33 rebounding advantage and converted 22 offensive boards into 17 second-chance points. The Quakers also took advantage of 19 Emory & Henry turnovers, which led to 22 Guilford points.

Miles Turner's double-double (15 points, 10 rebounds) led Emory & Henry. He also had six assists for the Wasps, which matched McCarthy for game-high honors. Rookie Ryan Gravley chipped in with 11 points, all of which came in the second half.

Guilford visits league-rival Roanoke College Wednesday (1/7) at 7:00 p.m.
