VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Allison Hewitt won at singles and doubles in Guilford College's 5-4 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) tennis win at Virginia Wesleyan College Friday.

Hewitt, the team captain, teamed with Haley Andrews at first doubles and the pair posted an 8-4 triumph over the Marlins' Mia Proctor and Hannah Parent. Hewitt later downed Parent at second singles, 6-0, 6-1.

The Quakers (4-4, 3-2 ODAC) picked up another doubles point when the number-three tandem of Luci Gordon and Madison Giles claimed a narrow 9-8 (7-1) victory over Virginia Wesleyan's Lisa Ngyuen and Sydney Charity. Mara Stern downed Ngyuen at fifth singles, 6-3, 6-4.

Guilford's Nora Prokosch downed Hannah Rice, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1, at fourth singles in one of three singles matches that went three sets.

Coach Dave McCain's Quakers visit Averett University Sunday (3/9).
