LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Guilford College's women's tennis team won all but one match against Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) foe Lynchburg College Saturday, 8-1.
Guilford's (6-7, 3-6 ODAC) Haley Andrews defeated her first singles opponent, Melissa Drinkard, 6-4, 6-0. Kim Kleimeier won at third singles, 6-2, 6-2. Allison Hewitt defeated her fourth-singles opponent, 6-1, 6-0. Lynchburg (1-10, 0-8 ODAC) defaulted fifth and sixth singles.
The Quakers swept doubles. Andrews and Allie Guy paired for an 8-3 first doubles victory. Kleimeier and Natalie Sutton defeated the Hornets' Madison Dixon and Ari Peikin, 8-1, at second doubles. Lynchburg defaulted their third doubles match.
Guilford plays ODAC opponent, Randolph College, in a match today at 2:00 p.m. The women play their final match of the season at home tomorrow, Sunday, Apr. 14 at 2:00 p.m. against Washington and Lee University. The Generals are ranked 16th in the Apr. 11 ITA Division III National Rankings.
