Guilford's Garcia Scores Seven in 14-10 Lacrosse Win at Virginia Wesleyan

NORFOLK, Va. – E'leyna Garcia scored seven goals and one assist in Guilford College's 14-10 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse win at Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday.

Garcia's fifth goal of the match came with just under 23 minutes left in regulation and broke an 8-8 tie. The tally gave Guilford (7-1, 3-0 ODAC) the lead for good and triggered a decisive 6-1 Quakers' run. Garcia, Lily Colley and Eleanora Keene each tallied twice during the spurt.

Garcia scored five times in the first half and helped Guilford build a 7-3 lead. The Marlins (1-7, 0-3 ODAC) rallied with three straight scores, including two of Taylor Harding's team-high three goals. Garcia stopped the streak with her fifth goal of the half and sent the Quakers into halftime with an 8-6 edge.

Guilford's Colley collected four points on three goals and one assist, plus four ground balls. Keene scored twice and also picked up nine draw controls and four ground balls. Rookie Summer Fowler had a team-high five pickups and Liza Mettler made 10 saves in goal.

Summer Moore tallied four points with three goals and an assist for the Marlins. Amari Agee scored once and picked up a game-best seven ground balls. Madison Carroll had seven saves.

The Quakers, enjoying their best start in school history, host league-rival Lynchburg College Wednesday (3/27) at 6:00 p.m.
