GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Allison Hewitt and Fernanda Gonzalez extended their singles winning streak to three in Guilford's 9-0 sweep of Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC)-newcomer Shenandoah University.
Shenandoah's (3-5, 0-5 ODAC) number one singles player, Shannon Allin, injured herself during her doubles match and was unable to play singles, moving everyone in the Hornets' lineup up a position.
Guilford's (4-4, 1-4 ODAC) Haley Andrews defeated her first-singles opponent, Molly Barb, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3). Natalie Sutton was on her way to tying her second singles set score to one apiece when Shenandoah's Rachel Gross retired.
Haley Andrews and Allie Guy defeated the Hornets' Allin and Barb, 8-2. Sutton and Kim Kleimeier did not allow their second doubles opponents to win a second game.
The Quakers twice play conference matches tomorrow, Sunday, Mar. 17, at Roanoke College. They will face Washington and Lee University first, at 10:00 a.m., and will later play Roanoke at 3:30 p.m.
