GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College's tennis teams swept cross-town rival Greensboro College Tuesday afternoon at the McMichael Centennial Class Courts. The Quakers' men claimed an 8-0 darkness-shortened win, while the Guilford women prevailed, 9-0.
Guilford's women (2-0) got off to a good start with a pair of 8-0 doubles victories. Meredith Kelly took the Quakers' Haley Andrews to three sets before the Quakers' freshman prevailed, 4-6, 7-5 (7-6), 10-5. Kim Kleimeier also used three sets to knock off Greensboro's Brittany Cates, 6-0, 2-6, 10-3.
Both Guilford tennis teams are back in action Sunday (2/19) when they open Old Dominion Athletic Conference play at Randolph-Macon College.
