Guilford Outscores Randolph-Macon, 18-16, For Big ODAC Win

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Summer Frazier scored six goals and E'leyna Garcia added four in Guilford College's 18-16 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse win over Randolph-Macon College Sunday.

Frazier tallied four times and added her lone assist in the second half, which saw the Quakers (4-9, 3-3 ODAC) build a 9-7 halftime lead into an 18-12 advantage with 6:11 remaining in regulation.

Randolph-Macon (5-6, 3-2 ODAC) scored the match's final four goals. Erin Clare Cassidy netted her sixth goal with 29 seconds left, which provided the game's final margin.

Five different Quakers scored in a decisive 5-0 run before Cassidy tallied consecutive goals 10 minutes into the game. Her goals triggered a 5-1 run that pulled the Yellow Jackets to within 6-5. Guilford recovered to score three of the next five goals and held a 9-7 halftime lead.

Guilford's Shannon Kandola scored three times on as many shots and added two draw controls. Becca Colley and Kathryn Carella both scored twice for the Quakers. Defender Katie Oliver had an assist to go with six ground balls, four draw controls and three caused turnovers. Guilford goalie Liza Mettler made seven of the Quakers' nine saves, six in the second half.

The trio of Cassidy, Elyse Cooper and Kelly Egan combined for all but one of the Yellow Jackets' 16 goals. Cooper had six goals and an assist. Cassidy scored six times and won a game-high five draws. Egan netted three goals and dished out six assists for a game-best nine points.

Guilford hosts nationally ranked league-rival Washington and Lee University Wednesday (4/20) at 3:00 p.m.
