GREENSBORO, N.C. - Guilford College's men's and women's tennis teams pulled out narrow 5-4 victories over Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Virginia Wesleyan College Sunday. Rain forced the matches into the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center.
Guilford's (4-4, 2-2 ODAC) women took advantage of Virginia Wesleyan's (2-3, 1-3 ODAC) five-student roster and won two points by default. Guilford seniors Nina Bollag and Liz Killion both won twice in matches actually played. They won at third and fifth singles, respectively, and teamed for an 8-2 win over Virginia Wesleyan's Katelynn Duncan and Stephanie Bittner. The Marlins' Meredith Willet and Cay Gee took the first- and second-singles contests, respectively and teamed for a first-doubles victory over Guilford's Mackey Wesner and Natalie Sutton.
The Quakers are back in action Mar. 13 against preseason league favorites Washington and Lee University at 1:00 p.m. on Guilford's McMichael Centennial Class Courts.
