GREENSBORO, N.C. – Visiting Christopher Newport University swept a pair of nonconference tennis matches at Guilford College Friday afternoon. The regionally ranked Captains' men's team scored an 8-1 win over Guilford and the women's team claimed a 6-3 decision.

Christopher Newport's women (4-2) won all three singles contests en route to a 6-3 victory. The Captains' Morgan Huff downed Guilford's Mackey Wesner at first singles, 7-5, 6-3, and teamed with Kim Morrissett for an 8-5 win over the Quakers' Nina Bollag and Liz Killion. Guilford's tandem made its first doubles debut in the match. Morrissett and Marion Gloor won a second and third singles, respectively, and joined Huff as two-time winners in the match.

Guilford's Anne Mogavero, Killion and Mary Simpson won the bottom three singles flights to account for Guilford's points.

The Quakers visit Randolph College Saturday (3/19) in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play while Christopher Newport visits Greensboro College Saturday for a USA South Athletic Conference match.
