Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. (4/21/10) -- Alli Shearin scored a game-high six goals to lead 13th-ranked Washington and Lee University past visiting Guilford College Wednesday in the regular-season finale for both teams.
With the win, the Generals clinched the top seed for the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament and a first-round bye. The Quakers (6-9, 3-5 ODAC) earned the sixth seed in the tournament and play Saturday (4/24) at third-seeded Lynchburg College at 1:30 p.m. The Hornets won the regular-season meeting between the two teams, 11-9.
Washington and Lee opened a 7-0 lead less than eight minutes into the game and led, 15-3, at halftime. The Generals Britten Mathews tallied all three of her goals in the first half. Shearin, Kate Donnelly, Meredith Freeman, and Ellie Van Sant all scored twice in the frame, during which time the Generals outshot Guilford, 20-5.
Guilford's Carrie Ernst scored twice and had three draw controls for the Quakers.
