Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. (1/18/10) – Clay Henson scored 24 of his season- and game-high 30 points in the first half to help Guilford College past visiting Roanoke College, 96-62, in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference men's basketball game Monday night.
Guilford (15-1, 6-1 ODAC), ranked sixth in this week's D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, matched its best start since 1967 with its 11th straight victory.
Roanoke (6-10, 3-4 ODAC) held an early 9-8 lead before Guilford reeled off the next 15 points and opened a 14-point advantage midway through the period. Henson knocked down six threes in the final 6:15 first half, which staked the hosts to a 50-30 intermission advantage. For the game, Guilford's career leader made eight-of-12 three pointers, one shy of matching his school record for three-pointers in a game.
Guilford's Tyler Sanborn added 19 points and five rebounds, which broke his streak of 10 straight double-doubles. Teammate Josh Pittman matched his career high with 11 points off the bench. The rookie also contributed three rebounds and a game-high five assists.
Roanoke's Parrish Walker collected 15 points, five rebounds and five assists, all team highs, before his hometown crowd. Logan Singleton contributed nine points and five rebounds for the Maroons.
Guilford returns to action Wednesday (1/20) night versus visiting Bridgewater College in a 7:00 p.m. ODAC game.
