Box Score Greensboro, N.C. (3/26/08) -- Jordan Clodfelter scored a game-high four goals and an assist to lead Guilford College past visiting Methodist University, 17-4, in a nonconference women's lacrosse match Wednesday night in the Armfield Athletic Center.
The Quakers improve to 4-3 with their fourth straight win, while Methodist drops to 3-7.
Clodfelter scored all of her goals in the first half as Guilford jumped out to an 11-0 halftime lead. She matched her season high for points in a game and her four tallies mark a season best. Junior Jennifer Abelin and senior Mary Hutchins both scored two of their three tallies in the opening period. Guilford outshot the Monarchs, 16-8, and limited them to just two successful clears in 11 attempts.
Junior Andrea DiStefano got Methodist on the board 5:25 into the second half and sophomore teammate Krystal Poirier followed eight minutes later to stop the clock with 16:36 remaining. Guilford reeled off three more goals before senior Christina Layson ended the Monarchs' scoring with back-to-back scores.
Eight different Quakers found the back of the net, including junior defender Erin Baker, who scored her first Guilford goal with 3:50 remaining. In addition to her three goals, Abelin recorded seven ground balls and caused four turnovers, both game highs. Sophomore Alyzza-May Callahan improved to 4-0 in goal with eight saves and three goals allowed in 51:22.
Sophomore Lindsey Cosgray made eight saves in goal for the Monarchs.
Guilford hosts league-rival Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Methodist hosts Sweet Briar College Saturday in a 2:00 p.m. nonconference match.
