Fayetteville, N.C. (3/28/07) -- Mary Hutchins scored four goals and three assists in Guilford College's 16-5 lacrosse win at Methodist University Wednesday. Guilford (4-5) won its third straight match and ended the Monarchs' (4-8) four-year winning streak in the season series between the two teams.

Ellie Merrit and Allison Brown scored two goals apiece as Guilford opened the contest with a 6-1 run. Caryn Washington scored twice and Hutchins netted her first goal to end the first-half scoring and give the guests a 9-2 halftime lead.

The Quakers scored five of the second half's first six goals, two by Hutchins, and opened a 14-3 edge with 13:46 remaining. Christina Layson tallied twice for the Monarchs' in the game's final 12:13.

Guilford outshot Methodist, 37-21. Quakers' goalie Alyzza-May Callahan made nine saves in her first college start and notched her first college victory. Lindsey Cosgray made 12 saves for the Monarchs.
