Box Score Virginia Beach, Va. (3-17-07) -- Sophomore Kasey Marchwicki and junior Jillian Boyd scored three goals apiece in Virginia Wesleyan's 12-9 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse win over visiting Guilford Saturday afternoon. The Marlins (2-4) overcame a 4-0 deficit to improve to 2-0 in league play.
After Virginia Wesleyan battled back to tie the game at four, the Marlins scored eight of the next 10 goals. Virginia Wesleyan led 9-6 at halftime and scored the first three goals of the second half. The Quakers (1-4, 0-2 ODAC) netted the game's final three goals.
Boyd added an assist for a team-high four points. Sophomores Aimee Sraver and Bethany Adomanis contributed three points apiece on two goals and one assist. Sophomore Ashley Sippel went the distance in goal and made six saves.
Guilford junior Mary Hutchins led all scorers with seven points on a game-high four goals and three assists. Junior Kelly Gonzalez matched her career high with two goals and also had an assist. Freshman Jessica Bolton made seven saves in goal for the Quakers.
Guilford continues its two-game swing through the Tidewater area Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. nonconference match at Christopher Newport.
