Box Score Greensboro, NC (4/9/05) -- Senior Kelly Jaeger and freshman Lacy Phelps scored four goals apiece in Randolph-Macon's 15-9 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's lacrosse victory at Guilford Saturday afternoon.
Jaeger, Phelps, and junior Liz Lombardo each scored twice during a decisive 7-0 Yellow Jackets' (6-4, 4-1 ODAC) run that turned a 3-2 deficit into a 9-3 halftime lead. The Quakers struck first on freshman Mary Hutchins' unassisted goal 3:26 into the match. The teams traded tallies before junior Moira Foley gave Guilford a 3-2 edge just over 10 minutes into the match. Sophomore Traci Phipps tied the contest 5:18 later and started the visitor's half-ending run.
Guilford's Jordan Clodfelter scored on a free-position shot 9:07 into the second half, which halted Randolph-Macon's run, but Phelps and Jaeger both scored twice during an ensuing 5-0 Yellow Jackets' burst that put the game away. Guilford scored four times in the last 5:30 for the final margin.
Jaeger added an assist for a team-high five points. Phipps finished with three scores and Lombardo chipped in two goals and two assists. Both players had a club-best six ground balls. Goalie Lindsay Schabert made 10 saves in goal.
Hutchins paced the Quakers with five goals. Junior Billie Pellerito added a goal and an assist. Rookie Devorah Litt made a career-best 21 saves in goal. Freshman Kelly Gonzales picked up a game-high nine ground balls
The Quakers host Roanoke Wednesday (4/13) in a must-win game to keep their ODAC Tournament hopes alive. Randolph-Macon visits Hollins Sunday (4/10) in a match rescheduled from March 12.
