QUAKERS LOSE TO HOT SHOOTING EAGLES 93-80

The Bridgewater College Eagles shot 72.4 percent in the first half to open a 52-29 halftime lead and coasted the rest of the way to a 93-60 victory over the Guilford College Quakers in ODAC action Sunday afternoon.  BC hit 21-of-29 shots in the first half, including 7-of-13 from 3-point range to take the big halftime lead.

      After the Eagles opened their biggest lead of the game, 71-42, with 13:27 to play, Guilford made a strong run to cut the lead to 14 points, 79-65, with 6:35 left in the game. The Eagles withstood the Quakers' charge and built the lead back to 21 points before putting in the reserves with just over two minutes left to play.

      Ricky Easterling led the Eagles with 28 points and Ashby Tarkington added 22. Clay Michael with 13 and josh Maupin with 10 also reached double figures.

      Kerry Atkinson led the Quakers with 15 points. Genaro Lawhorn and Caleb Kimbrough each scored 11 points while Jordan Snipes and Ray Edmond scored 10 points each.

      The Eagles finished the game shooting 65 percent from the floor (34-for-52) and 50 percent from 3-point range (9-of-18). BC also made 80 percent from the foul line (16-for-20).

      The Eagles maintain their hold on first place in the conference with a 12-4 overall mark and a 7-2 record in the ODAC. Guilford drops to 9-6 overall and 4-4 in the conference.  Guilford visits league-rival Emory & Henry Wednesday (1/19) at 7:00 p.m.
