Box Score Tenth-ranked Washington and Lee scored 16 first-half goals en route to an 18-3 victory over Guilford in ODAC women's lacrosse action on Tuesday afternoon.
The Generals (6-1, 4-0) scored 13 straight goals to open the contest in building a 16-1 advantage at halftime. Senior midfielder Lee Wheeler (Baltimore, MD/Bryn Mawr) led W&L with three goals and three assists, recording all six points in the game's opening 10:07. Sophomore midfielder Kate Lester (Wilmington, DE/Friends) and freshman midfielder Lane Earnest (Preston, MD/Easton) also tallied three goals each.
Senior attacker Kelly Taffe (Charlottesville, VA/Albemarle), junior midfielder Erin Rathbone (Darnestown, MD/Northwest) and freshman midfielder Karina Schless (Old Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) each added two goals in the win. Freshman Laura Hornbuckle (Houston, TX/St. John's) recorded one save in the Generals' goal for her first career win.
Junior attacker Sarah Routhier (North Yarmouth, ME/Greeley) netted the hat-trick for the Quakers (1-3, 0-2), while freshman midfielder Kathryn Hyde (Pownal, ME/Waynflete School) dished out three assists. Senior Brandi Rhoads (Walnut Creek, CA/Las Lomas) made a career-high 16 saves in the Guilford goal.
