HUBER LIFTS HOLLINS PAST GUILFORD, 10-4, IN ODAC WOMEN'S LACROSSE

Greensboro, NC (03/12/02) --  Junior attack Hannah Huber (Richmond, VA/Collegiate School) scored six goals and assisted on three others in Hollins' 10-4 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse win at Guilford Tuesday.  The host Quakers played the entire game with 11 players, one shy of a full side.

Hollins (1-5, 1-2 ODAC) ended a five-game losing streak with its first win of the season and extended the Quakers (0-6, 0-3 ODAC) season-opening skid to six games.

Guilford rookie Sarah Routhier (North Yarmouth, ME/Greely) gave the hosts a 2-1 halftime lead by scoring two of her team-high three goals in the game's first 10 minutes.  Guilford rookie goaltender Lindsey Kennedy (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) made nine of her 18 saves in the first half, which helped keep Hollins scoreless for the last 28 minutes of the half.

Hollins took a 3-2 lead early in the second half on back-to-back scores by freshman attack Jamie Rostan (Farmville, VA/Prince Edward).  Routhier tied the game at three with 21:34 left in the game, but Rostan put Hollins ahead for good with a tally 2:04 later off a Huber assist.

Rostan and Huber combined to win 10 of Hollins' 12 draw controls, many in the second half, which helped the guests keep possession during a 7-0 run that put the game out of reach.  Huber closed the spurt with four unassisted tallies in a six-and-half-minute span.

Freshman Amy Fitzwater (Poolesville, MD/Poolesville) played a solid game in goal for Hollins and made 12 saves.

Guilford hosts Ohio Wesleyan Thursday (3/14) in a non-conference contest at 3:00 p.m.  Hollins hosts Swarthmore Thursday (3/14) at 4:30 p.m.
