Greensboro, NC (04/03/01) -- Senior Kylie Wernert (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) and junior Leslie Hunt (Baltimore, MD/Towson) scored four goals apiece to lead visiting Roanoke past Guilford, 17-2, in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's lacrosse action Tuesday. The win keeps Roanoke's record versus Guilford perfect at 15-0.
The Maroons (4-4, 3-2 ODAC) scored the game's first eight goals and led 12-1 at halftime. Wernert scored three times and recorded three of her team-high four assists in the opening half. Eight different players scored in the first period for Roanoke.
Roanoke won 13 of the game's 21 center draws, including six by Wernert, and controlled play for nearly all of the second half. Sophomore goaltender Lisa Humphries (Glasgow, VA/Rockbridge County) made four saves in goal for the Maroons, yielding only transition tallies to Guilford seniors Kate Allen (Cumberland, RI/Lincoln) and Abbey Weiner (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park).
Guilford (2-9, 0-4 ODAC) looks to snap a three-game losing skid this Saturday (4/07) when it hosts league rival Bridgewater at noon.
