Lexington, VA (04/25/01) – Guilford's women's lacrosse team lost to top-seeded Washington and Lee, 19-3, ending the Quakers' season in the first round of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) playoffs. The loss drops the Quakers record to 3-14, while the Generals, ranked 16th in this week's IWLCA NCAA Division III improve to 13-2 and will host Roanoke in Friday's tourney semifinals.
Sophomore attack Leslie Bogart (Wilton, CT/Wilton) scored three of her first four goals in the first half, leading the Generals to a 13-0 halftime lead. Freshman midfielder Lee Wheeler (Baltimore, MD/Bryn Mawr) also scored four goals.
Junior attack Keli Donnelly (Lafayette Hill, PA/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) scored her first of two goals with 11 minutes remaining in the game to put the Quakers on the board. Sophomore midfielder Sara Walters-Bugbee (Princeton, NJ/Princeton) also scored in defeat.
Guilford tripled its win total of 2000 in its first season under head coach Tara Caminiti-Raggett. The Quakers return four of its top scorers in 2002, including freshman attack Kathryn Ragin (Pawleys Island, SC/Hyde School (CT)), who finished with a team-high 42 points.
