Guilford's Jevon Clarke (Apex, NC/Southeast Raleigh) scored and then rebounded a missed fastbreak layup attempt by the Tigers' Jay Patrick (Hurt, VA/Hargrave Military), which led to Paul Kindem's (Chapel Hill, NC/East Chapel Hill) basket with six seconds left that cut Hampden-Sydney's lead to 72-71.
Guilford's Josh Connor (Greensboro, NC/Northwest Guilford) fouled Durant on the ensuing inbounds pass and the rookie made both shots to provide the final margin.
