Box Score

Lynchburg, VA (01/20/01) -- Senior center Todd Ashworth (High Point, NC/Southwest Guilford) scored a game-high 19 points as visiting Guilford recorded a 73-46 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's basketball win at Lynchburg Saturday afternoon. The Quakers' (8-9, 7-4 ODAC) fourth straight win gives them their most consecutive victories since 1993 and their most wins in a season since the 1994-95 campaign.

Guilford converted Lynchburg's (1-13, 1-7 ODAC) 17 first-half turnovers into 17 points and held the Hornets to 35 percent field-goal shooting en route to a 32-17 halftime lead. Ashworth scored 13 of his game-high total in the second half as the Quakers built their lead as high as 26 points and never looked back.

The Quakers erased Lynchburg's only lead of the game three minutes into the contest with a 10-0 run capped by senior guard Jaron Randall's (Trenton, NJ/Princeton Day) three-pointer. The Hornets pulled to within 14-13 with 11:06 left before halftime, but Guilford ripped off a 12-0 run as part of a 18-4 period-ending spurt. The Hornets made just one of nine field goals and committed 12 turnovers in the final 8:54 of the first half.

Rookie forward Josh Connor (Greensboro, NC/Northwest Guilford) scored a career-high nine points for the Quakers and junior forward Brad Woolley (Chapel Hill, NC/East Chapel Hill) also scored nine for the victors. Junior center Aron McMillian (Greensboro, NC/Greensboro Day) scored two points and grabbed a game-high eight board in 12 minutes off the bench.

Freshman forward Paul Monica (Great Falls, VA/Langley) led the hosts with 15 points off the bench, including three three-pointers.
