Ranicha Sargent ' 22 enters her first year as Head Coach of the Guilford College Triathlon program after being hired to the role in August of 2024. Prior to that, she spent two years as the top assistant for the Guilford Track & Field team, a role she will continue to serve in.
In her first year as GC's head coach, Sargeant became a Class I Certified Triathlon coach through USA Triathlon to lead the four-athlete squad in the fall of 2024.
A Quaker herself as an undergrad, Sargeant rises into the role after spending the 2022-23 academic year as a part-time assistant for track & field, before expanding to a full-time role for the 2023-24 season, helping lead a program that featured their first-two ODAC Individual Champions since 2014 in Mya Rivera, in the Javelin Throw, and R.J. Simons, in the Triple Jump.
Completing her degree in Exercise and Sport Sciences, Sargeant was a four-year member of the Guilford track & field program from 2018 through 2022, and found herself littered throughout the program record-books by the time her athletic career was through. As a sprinter and jumper, she, for a year, owned the top-two marks in the indoor 60m dash in program history, and three of the top-five marks, currently still standing with the third-, fourth-, and seventh-best marks on that list. In outdoor competition, she possesses two of the top-seven marks in the 100m sprint, and at the time of graduation held two of the top-four leaps in the long jump. Additionally, she is etched as a member of the 4x100m relay grouping that owns three of the top-four times in program history, with her anchoring two of those top times.
