Guilford Closes Season on High Note

The Guilford College men's lacrosse team traveled to Randolph College looking for a strong finish to their season. The Quakers defeated the WildCats, 17-5. 

Guilford set the tone of the game early with four-straight goals. Two of the goals were scored by Andrew Burch while Joe Hirvonen and Gavin Brown scored the others. Randolph was able to score by the end of the period to stop the bleeding. 

To start the second quarter Randolph was able to score but the Quakers bounced back with their own two goals. Burch completed his hat trick as Brown scored once more to give GC a 6-2 lead at the half.

Opening up the second half was the Quakers with another goal by Burch. From there, Guilford continued to control the game as it held the Wildcats scoreless in the third quarter. Four more goals were scored by Guilford's Jax Atkins, Brown, and Burch. Guilford owned a nine-goal lead (11-2) going to the fourth.

Gabe Alverez was able to start the scoring in the fourth with two straight goals for the Quakers. Guilford continued its run with two goals from Brown and another goal from Hirvonen.

Randolph ended the run but Guilford kept finding the back of the net to keep a comfortable lead with a goal from Ezekial Gravley. Randolph did score two more goals at the end of the game to make the final score 17-5.


The Quakers were led by Gabe Alverez with three goals and three assists, Brown with five goals and one assist, and Burch with five goals. The Quakers also dominated the face-off dot, winning 21 of the 26 attempts.
