The Guilford College men's tennis team faced the 39th ranked Washington and Lee University Generals. The Quakers fell to the visitors, 9-0.
In doubles action, it was all Washington and Lee as they swept the three matches.
Andres Mercedes and
Tye Sasser pushed the opponents but fell by the score of 8-6.
The Generals kept the momentum in singles play as No. 2 through No. 6 matches were decided in two sets. At No. 1, Mercedes found himself down early in the first set but fought off several set points and eventually took the first set, 7-5.
The second set went WLU's way as Evan Erb won the set, 6-2 and forced a third and final set. Due to the setting sun, the final set was a super tiebreaker. Both players went back-and-forth but ultimately it was the Generals that were victorious, 10-5.
