Members of the Guilford College men's tennis team took part in the Methodist Fall Invitational hosted by Methodist University.
Drake Schreiber went 2-1 in the No. 2 singles flight to finish fifth overall. In No. 3 singles flight, both
Evan Wong and
Rishi Halukurike represented the Quakers. Halukurike placed sixth while Wong finished eighth.
In No. 4 singles,
Tye Sasser won his opening match but fell in the semifinals and third-place match to finish fourth.
Dominik Pocrnja took part in the No. 5 singles flight and went 1-2 with two three-set matchs to place sixth overall.
Emmanuel Oye took the court in the No. 6 singles flight and dropped his first two matches before winning the seventh-place match in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-2.
Cooper Bean went 2-1 in round robin action.
In the doubles competition, the teams of
Andres Mercedes/
Tye Sasser and
Drake Schreiber/
Dominik Pocrnja in the No. 1 flight. The team of Mercedes and Sasser won their first match 8-6 before falling in the semifinals and third-place match.
Schreiber and Pocrnja fell in their three matches all by the score of 8-2. In the round robin, the pairing of Wong and Halukurike went 2-1 while Bean and Oye fell in their three matches.
Guilford will travel to Pfeiffer University on Saturday, September 24 for its fall invitational.
