GC Concludes 2022 Season

The Guilford College men's lacrosse team faced the Randolph-Macon College Yellow Jackets at home. The Quakers were defeated by the Yellow Jackets, 23-10.

Prior to the game, Guilford honored its six seniors: Nick Honkomp, Thomas Goodwin, Anthony Barnes Jr, Kyle Smaw, Will Nowatka and Jelani Keith

Randolph-Macon (11-6, 7-3) took the early lead by scoring five-consecutive goals in the first six minutes of the game. Guilford (5-10, 3-7) scored its first goal from Gabe Alvarez, assisted by Joseph Hirvonen.

The Yellow Jackets scored four more goals before the end of the period as GC scored one (9-2).

RMC started the second scoring three straight goals to increase their lead to 10 (12-2). Devin Morse ended their score streak by scoring a goal for GC assisted by Nick Honkomp

GC was able to make back-to-back goals by Hirvonen and Justin Barry to pull within seven (12-5). The Yellow Jackets added five more goals before the end of the half to lead 17-5.

To open the third, RMC found the back of the net but GC responded with another goal by Hirvonen at the 8:38 mark. Guilford scored once more in the period but trailed 21-7. 

Trailing 22-7, Alvarez scored the first goal of the fourth for the Quakers. The Yellow Jackets added one more goal as Morse and Barry added the last two goals for the Quakers to finalize the game, 23-8.

Alvarez (2G, 2A) led Guilford with four points while Hirvonen (2G, 1A) Morse (2G) and Barry (2G) rounded out the score sheet.. Ezekiel Gravley corralled nine ground balls while Jax Atkinson tallied six.
