The Guilford College men's lacrosse team trekked north and faced the 20th-ranked Washington and Lee Generals. The Quakers were bested, 27-6.
Washington and Lee scored early and often as it notched seven-straight goals.
Devin Morse got Guilford on the board with an assist from
Nick Honkomp. The Generals added one more and led 8-1 after the first period.
Gabe Alvarez scored the first goal of the second period before W&L scored seven to end the first half. The hosts led 15-2 at the break.
In the third,
Kyle Smaw found the back of the net to kickoff the period. The Generals responded with five goals before
Justin Barry netted a pass from Honkomp. Washington and Lee added two goals to hold a 22-4 edge.
Over the final 15 minutes of regulation, the hosts scored an additional five goals. Barry and Alvarez each scored once more before the end of the game.
Guilford returns to Appenzeller Field on Wednesday, April 27 against Hampden-Sydney. Face off is set for 7:00 p.m.
