Despite falling behind 2-1 after doubles action, the Guilford College men's tennis team came back to defeat the University of Lynchburg, 6-3.
The pairings of
Drake Schreiber and
Evan Wong along with
Jay Montague and
Tye Sasser fell by the scores of 8-2 and 8-3, respectively.
Dominik Pocrnja and
Andrew Ferris notched the lone doubles win, 8-3.
At first singles, Schreiber dropped the first set (6-2) before retiring in the second set. Montague bounced back in his singles match, 6-1 and 6-3.
Ferris found himself in the tightest match of the afternoon but won in straight sets (7-5, 6-3). Wong (No. 4) and Sasser (No. 5) won their matches in straight sets with scores of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-3, 6-4, respectively.
Drew Clark picked up the final win at No. 6 in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-1.
Guilford (7-3, 5-1) will travel to Washington and Lee University on Sunday, April 2. Start time is set for 2 p.m.
