Guilford Women Blank Randolph-Macon, 9-0

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Guilford College swept both men's and women's matches from Randolph-Macon College Sunday in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) openers for all four teams.

The Quakers' men (3-0, 1-0 ODAC) claimed a 9-0 win. Freshman Tyler Mercier won in straight sets over Frank Donnelly at first singles, 6-0, 6-3, and teamed with Clayton Hamilton (Greensboro, N.C./Page) for an 8-4 first-doubles triumph over Donnelly and Kevin Lloyd. Hamilton was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Lloyd at second singles. Guilford did not drop a set in all nine men's matches.

Guilford's women (3-1, 1-0 ODAC) won their third straight match, 9-0, over the Yellow Jackets (0-1, 0-1 ODAC). Natalie Sutton played first singles for the first time this season and pulled out a 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 10-5 win over Randolph-Macon's Martha Vlahakis. Sutton teamed with Mackey Wesner for an 8-2 win over Vlahakis and Katie Betts-Mulcome. Wesner was a 6-1, 6-2 win over Betts-Mulcome at second singles.

The Quakers are back in action Saturday (2/26) at Methodist University.
