LYNCHBURG, Va. (10/30/10) -- Junior midfielder Brittany Klippstein scored a school record-tying five goals in top-seeded Lynchburg College's 9-0 win over Guilford College Saturday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Soccer Tournament quarterfinal.
Klippstein scored her first goal on a free kick 35 yards away 19:31 into the game and followed up at the 30-minute mark with a shot from 20 yards out. Five minutes later, Klippstein scored from Shelley Hoath. She netted her fourth-straight tally at 41:57 off the rebound of a Betsy Kwiatkowski shot. Kwiatkowski assisted Jess Mader one minute before halftime and the Hornets took a 5-0 lead into intermission.
Kwiatkowski converted a penalty kick to open the second-half scoring and Klippstein tied the record in the 60th minute on a rebound from a Lauren Hammond shot. Lynchburg's Katie Santos and Rachel Sadowski added late tallies.
Kat Adams and Amy Baker split time in net for the Quakers (6-11-2) and combined for nine saves in their season finale. The Hornets fired 24 shots to Guilford's three and Lynchburg was awarded all seven of the game's corner kicks.
Lynchburg (16-2-1) plays fifth-seeded Washington and Lee University Tuesday in a semifinal game at a time yet to be determined. The Generals upended Bridgewater, 2-1, Saturday in quarterfinal action.
