CARY, N.C. - Guilford College's Caleb Amstutz and Kate Jenkins-Sullivan clinched top-25 finishes in Friday evening's adidas Cross Country Challenge at WakeMed Soccer Park. The meet featured two different races: one for Division I athletes and the other for Division II and III teams along with club organizations.
Amstutz led the men's team, who placed fifth out of seven and second out of three Division III schools, with a 22nd-place finish thanks to a five-kilometer time of 17:21.2, one-tenth of a second away from 21st place and two seconds away from a top-20 finish. Amstutz shattered his personal-best time by 43 seconds while earning 17 points.
Colin Dossel finished with the second-best Guilford time, finishing 38th with a time of 18:09.3. Dossel was in a pack where nine seconds separated 34th place from 38th place.
The Quakers return to the course October 1st, running in the Hagen-Stone Classic just outside of Greensboro to remain at home during Guilford's Homecoming weekend.
