Guilford Places 19 on ODAC Sportsmanship Team

FOREST, Va. - Nineteen Guilford College students were named to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's (ODAC) 2016-17 Sportsmanship Teams in their respective sports, the league announced Wednesday. The Quakers recognized were:

  • Senior Kemar Bachelor (Greensboro, N.C./Southern Guilford)- Football
  • Senior Becca Benfield (Lawndale, N.C./Burns) – Outdoor Track
  • Junior Jordyn Brown (Lothian, Md./Southern) – Basketball
  • Senior Levi Bruff (Lexington, N.C./Central Davidson) - Tennis
  • Senior Madalyn Carpenter(Burtonsville, Md./Good Counsel) – Soccer
  • Sophomore Katie Claggett (Easton, Md./Easton) - Tennis
  • Sophomore Makayla Crawford (Rutherfordton, N.C./R.S. Central) – Softball
  • Senior Kendall Dunn (Greensboro, N.C./Vandalia Christian (UNC Pembroke)) - Golf
  • Senior David Felipe (Miami, Fla./Miami Killian) - Lacrosse
  • Freshman Jeremiah Hedrick (Sedalia, N.C./Southern Guilford) – Indoor Track, Outdoor Track
  • Senior Nick Jones (Summerfield, N.C./Northern Guilford (Randolph-Macon) – Cross Country
  • Senior Sammi Milbourn (Lake Zurich, Ill./Lake Zurich) – Lacrosse
  • Senior Ivie Norris (Asheboro, N.C./Asheboro)- Indoor Track
  • Freshman Carolyn O'Halloran (Summerfield, N.C./Bishop McGuinness) – Swimming
  • Senior Brendan Pearce (Wake Forest, N.C./Wake Forest-Rolesville) - Soccer
  • Senior Michael Reiney (Huntsville, Ala./Randolph School) - Basketball
  • Senior Kayli Reyna (Liberty, N.C./Southern Alamance) – Cross Country
  • Senior John Todd (Falls Church, Va./Bishop Ireton)- Baseball
  • Freshman Morgan Tompkins (Galax, Va./Carroll County) – Volleyball

"I am pleased the conference recognizes student-athletes for their focus on fair play and sportsmanship," ODAC Commissioner Brad Bankston said. "The conference prides itself on positive sportsmanship and encouraging student-athletes to lead by example. Each one of the honorees has been selected by the coaches in recognition of their conduct in the arena."

This marks the eighth year the ODAC has recognized student-athletes for sportsmanship. The league honored 237 athletes on the Fall, Winter, and Spring Sportsmanship Teams.
